The Peterborough by-election result prompted Jeremy Corbyn to rush to crow that it showed Labour had "strong support across the country".

Really? If Mr Corbyn thinks Peterborough, in which Labour only managed to increase its slim 607 vote majority by just under 80 votes, was a "strong" endorsement, it's no wonder his followers fell over themselves to hail him the Prime Minister after coming second in the 2017 general election. And they've been doing the same in essence, with loyalist Labour MPs claiming that the party had "decisively" beaten the Brexit Party (by a margin of 603 votes). 

The Labour leader's overeager response can only be a sign of his relief at just managing to stop the Brexit...
